ALLAN GRAY BURSARY FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENT

So, you're absolutely loving your 1st year at university and your head is bursting with great ideas that you just know will change the face of your future. You thought you knew a lot, but your university experience has blown your mind and you're excited at the possibility of being an agent of change in the world.

You know you can, and you will, but you're going to need some help. The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation offers undergraduate scholarships to help bright young students like yourself become the change agent you strive to be

Varsity is hard - not that you mind - but it's a lot of pressure when you're working part-time to fund your exciting new life or are depending on a heavy student loan to see you through. Academic scholarships like the Fellowship programme from the Foundation will enable you to reach your full potential.

Qualifying for this Academic Scholarship

So now that you're excited by the opportunity of an undergraduate scholarship, here's what you need to qualify for the academic scholarships offered by the Foundation:
  • You need to have a minimum of a "C" average in the mid year exams.
  • You must be a citizen of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana or Swaziland.
  • You must be currently studying towards a commerce, science (excluding medicine) or engineering degree at one of the following universities: the University of the Witwatersrand, the University of Johannesburg, the University of Pretoria, the University of Cape Town, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Rhodes University or the University of the Western Cape.
  • You must have a passion and flair for entrepreneurialism.
  • You should posses the characteristics associated with Allan Gray Fellows - intellectual imagination, personal initiative, spirit of selflessness, courageous commitment and achievement excellence.
  • You need to be excited about changing the future of Southern Africa and be ready and rearing to go.
